Leigh Paulseth
Green Party policies are grounded in science and equity – which I value equally. I moved to Ajax to put down roots and start a family, which is why I have no time to waste in ensuring the future is clean and green for everyone!

Leigh’s Bio:
Leigh Paulseth is a passionate environmentalist with 6 years experience in the environmental non-profit sector and 5 years experience working in science education and community outreach. Having moved to Ajax in 2019, she is putting down roots in her community and committed to working towards a sustainable and just future here.
With an educational background in science, Leigh completed graduate work in environmental management in Nova Scotia. Having grown up in Scarborough, she returned to Ontario in 2012 to work on protecting nature from the Niagara Escarpment to the Rouge River. She gained experience managing grants, creating community programs and working with youth. Leigh currently works in science communication, coordinating programs to support underrepresented voices in the sciences. This includes managing Soapbox Science Toronto for the past 5 years and serving on the Let’s Talk Science Anti-Racism Task Force last year.
Leigh is a strong environmental advocate. She has been involved in campaigns to stop the development of pipelines in Southern Ontario and protect Rouge Park for future generations. Since moving to Ajax, she has joined the Board of Thickson’s Woods Land Trust, and successfully helped organize efforts to stop development of the Duffins Wetland in Pickering through the use of a provincial Minister’s Zoning Order (MZO).
As a scientist, Leigh understands that we only have a few years to drastically change the trajectory of our warming climate. As an environmental activist, she also knows the power of community activism in creating change. The Green Party is leading this change with sound science, economic and social policy that can create a just transition to a sustainable future for everyone.
Leigh is married to a wonderful partner and has a pandemic pup – who helps her manage the ups and downs of life. She enjoys exploring the beautiful neighbourhoods and natural areas of Ajax with them both.
